Went to dinner afterwards.
Came home. Hit the internet.

I voted for Barack Obama. I mailed in my ballot on the 30th, dropped it into the mailbox with a hope and a wish for luck and courage. Tonight, all that came home with a lovely rush of joy and a few tears of relief.
Maybe now we can get started on some real change in this world. Perhaps now the rest of the world will give us another chance. Stephen Fry, in his twitter feed, says, "The world so wants to love America and now they can again."
That's a wonderful summation of how I've felt for the last eight years. I want to love this country, this beautiful idealistic mess of a country, and haven't felt at all justified in doing so. I feel -- I hope that Obama will bring this country into a upswing in community, both global and local.
I want to believe, and so, apparently, do a lot of other people.
