Slicing and dicing

I have cut my existence into
the smallest possible pieces
at what point will it be enough? I am
limited to fragments, impossible to
reform into a whole, a puzzle
entreating the observer to
attempt the solution
despite the fact that
you will always be missing one last shard
how can you offer me this possibility
unification without duress, a glass now empty
refilled until it overflows with dreams
trust is impossible, I would rather
sleep in pieces, suffering hidden
my counsel kept quiet
eternal, elided, alone
